Introducing time-based filtering

Presearch
2 min readFeb 9, 2023

Sometimes when you’re searching, you only want results from a specific time period.

Whether it’s something from the last day, week, month, or year, you can now filter your search results by time period on Presearch.

This has been one of the most requested features from community members, and we’re excited to announce that this functionality is now live on the search results page.

How to use time-based filtering

To filter by time period, simply use the drop down menu at the top of the results page and choose the time period you’d like to display results from.

The new feature works across the web, video, and news search results.

This feature is useful for news results, which are generally more time-sensitive than other types of results, though issues with outdated results tend be more prevalent on the general web, so it’s handiness is quite universal.

Other tweaks to the search results UI

You may notice that the search results page has also gotten richer and better organized due to some recent improvements to the handling of news and video results in the main web search results UI. You will now find improved sub-sections in some cases to group related links by web domain (like the Tesla example shown below) and richer metadata to summarize key information in some results (like the Wikipedia example shown below).

As always, a huge thanks to the development team for all of their work making Presearch better for all of us!

We hope you like the changes and look forward to any feedback you may have to share on social media, on Telegram or in Discord.
