It’s been an amazing year of growth and development for Presearch. We are so grateful for your continued support in creating a decentralized search engine to access the world’s information. We’re excited to be at the frontier of this important mission, together.
It’s been a tough year for the crypto space as a whole. A few ups, though mostly downs across the sector. Capitulation has been felt almost everywhere. NFT volumes are down 95%+, DAU on many projects is sharply down, and DeFi TVL down over 85%. Yet, usage of Presearch remains strong and has been consistent throughout the year, even while we focused on optimizing for traffic quality over quantity. This is incredibly rare across the space, especially during a period of contraction like what we experienced in 2022. It’s thanks to amazing Presearch community members like you that the project keeps going and growing.
While there is much to be accomplished on the journey to becoming a completely decentralized, community-run search engine, Presearch has come so far. Let’s take a look back on some of Presearch’s proudest accomplishments this last year.
Development Accomplishments
We all should be proud of the developments that we released this year, such as:
- Mainnet launched — a huge step for decentralization
- Community-contributed package releases (and bounty program) including flights, weather, currrency conversion, secure password generation, and Presearch news
- Quick deployment of Presearch nodes with decentralized hosting providers
- Smart node routing
- RVS replacement
- Web3 withdrawals
- Geographically distributed gateways and dynamic gateway pool rebalancing
- New customizable homepage and unified settings
- Switch from presearch.org to presearch.com
- Configurable search locations
- Numerous upgrades and improvements for speed, security, and automation of Presearch apps and platform services
Partnerships and Growth
2022 was a year full of partnerships and growth for Presearch. Below is a list of some of the partnerships and metrics of growth we accomplished this year:
Partnerships:
- Presearch strengthens CoinMarketCap partnership by doubling advertisements from 30M to 60M impressions monthly
- Presearch becomes the default search engine on the Decentr browser
- Presearch preloaded on the Above Phone
- Android Search Choice renewed
Growth:
- Registered users grow from 3.32M to 4.2M
- Nodes increase from 50K to over 70K
- Twitter followers grow from 33k to 44.5k
- PRE staked on nodes and keywords increases from 166M to 255M (now over 50% of the total supply)
- Keywords advertised increased from 6,600 to 15,000
Other:
- Road to Mainnet NFT collection was released
- $1M advertising grant program
The popularity of Presearch remains strong as we are one of the top 10,000 most visited websites in the world & remain in the top 10 for the crypto space as a whole. We look forward to continuing this momentum with Presearch being one of the most popular blockchain websites.
2023 and Beyond!
Presearch is poised to have its biggest year ever in 2023!
There are many things that are being worked on behind the scenes that will catalyze the project in a way not seen since its founding. This will further the mission of decentralization, and enable Presearch to fulfill the vision of building a completely decentralized search engine much more quickly.
It’s an incredible time we live in. The technologies in AI, blockchain & search technology have matured to a point where decentralized search on the scale of Google can be a reality. These technologies will evolve at an ever increasing rate, making now the best time to be in the overlap of these three areas.
Presearch has many goals for 2023, below are just some of them:
- Launch of a Presearch Foundation / DAO
- Expanding access to AI-powered search results
- Adding more advertising networks to provide relevant, private ads to drive value into the Presearch ecosystem and PRE
- Adding affiliate partners (one we will announce early next year!)
- Consumptive keyword staking model
- Search staking
- Launch of new node functions like crawling, indexing, and storage
- New technical roadmap with everything to come on the technical front. If you’ve been watching the weekly updates, you will know some of these — we can’t wait to share with you all!
